FLIPPIN — Rayburn H. Pankey,

of Flippin, Ark., passed away at his home with his family by his side on September 13, 2021, at the age of 81. He was born July 8, 1940, in Gregory, Arkansas, the son of H.V. and Mary (King) Pankey. He married Carolyn on July 17, 1992, in Lowell, Arkansas. He retired from the United States Postal Service. Ray was a faithful member of Twin Lakes Baptist Church of Mountain Home. He was a lifetime Arkansas Razorbacks fan, and he was a high school football referee. Ray was also a talented woodworker, and enjoyed fishing on the White River. Ray greatly enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind and loving man who will be greatly missed.

Ray is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Pankey of Flippin, Arkansas; daughters, Karen Ann (James) Childress, and Debra Leigh Power; son, Michael Pankey; stepsons, Michael (Jill) Harp, Phillip (Loretta) Harp, Randall (Aubrey) Harp, and Greg Harp; daughter-in-law, Leslie Harp; seventeen grandchildren; twenty- seven great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ray had a host of care givers, both independent and from Home Instead, that did a tremendous job of caring for him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Billy Pankey, and Vester P. Pankey; sisters, Nina James, and Trudy Cook; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 17, 2021, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at Twin Lakes Baptist Church with a funeral to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Sam Bailey officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m., at Friendship Cemetery in Springdale, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to Twin Lakes Baptist Church.
