BEST BETS

7 p.m. on Fox 2021 World Series

After a 162-game regular season and three rounds of playoffs, two teams are left standing as the champions of the American League and National League square off tonight with Game 1 of the 2021 World Series from the home field of the team with the better record. The winner of this best-of-seven series takes home the Commissioner’s Trophy as the 2021 champs. Last year, that honor went to the Los Angeles Dodgers, who defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in six games for their first title in 32 years and seventh in franchise history.

8 p.m. on PBS American Veteran

This new four-part docuseries, which airs weekly, explores the breadth of the Veteran Experience across U.S. history via interviews with dozens of veterans from all branches of the service. The United States is home to nearly 18 million military veterans, from the “Greatest Generation” to the men and women currently coming home from recent tours of duty in Afghanistan and Iraq. Drew Carey hosts the premiere, “The Crossing,” which follows new recruits as they take the oath to serve, then begin their transition from the civilian world to become soldiers, sailors, Marines and air personnel.

9 p.m. on TBS The Last O.G.

The season three finale saw Tray Barker (Tracy Morgan) become the victim of a violent attack, and as Season 4 returns tonight with two new back-to-back episodes, the character experiences a personal reawakening that includes new perspectives on his community, his life goals and the challenges he confronts. Finally accepting the unpleasant reality that his world is changing, Tray realizes he must adapt to help the Brooklyn he loves. Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“People of Earth”) joins an ensemble that also includes Ryan Gaul, Taylor Mosby, Dante Hoagland and Anna Maria Horsford.
