FAYETTEVILLE — Jadwiga Zajicek

of Fayetteville, formerly of Wilno, Poland, passed peace fully on March 20, 2023. She was 97 years old.

She was a film editor, director, and screenwriter. She edited 200 documentaries, 70 feature films, and the Polish Film Chronicle. Jadwiga Zajicek’s name is widely known in the Polish film community; she belonged to a group of the co- creators of the famous Polish School in the 1950s. She won awards at national and international short film festivals and the Polish Filmmakers Association Award for Lifetime Achievements.

In 2014, she was awarded the Gold Medal for Contributions to Polish Culture - Gloria Artis.

Jadwiga is survived by her daughter, Anna; son Edward; granddaughterm Elizabeth, and two great-grandchildren, Ellis and Frankie.
