With the eternal popularity of shows such as “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown,” “Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted” and Guy Fieri’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives,” there’s no mistaking that TV watchers are always hungry — not only for delicious food, but also for adventure (and celebrity chefs).

First was “Selena + Chef,” then came Stanley Tucci wowing viewers from Italy, but next to join the ranks of actors-turned-cooking-showhosts is one who’s had a fair share of experience with spice, both in and out of the kitchen. Perhaps best known for her role as “Desperate Housewives’” Gabrielle Solis, actress, producer, director and activist Eva Longoria is soon to wear a different hat: a chef’s hat.

Premiering this Sunday, March 26, on CNN, audiences can join Longoria on an exploration of colorful, vibrant food in “Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico.”

Produced by Raw TV, the company behind the Emmywinning series “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” and Tucci himself, the six-part series is sure to entice the senses. This season, as Longoria takes on her newest role as “culinary tour guide,” she makes traditional mole in Oaxaca, tastes carne asada in Nuevo Leon and stirs up traditional birria stew in Jalisco.

In a CNN news release for the show, Longoria was quoted as saying, “I am so excited for viewers to tune in and see firsthand what I love so much about Mexico – the food, the people, the cultures. ... This journey allowed me to further appreciate and fall in love with my roots, and I feel so honored that CNN entrusted me with this unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

Aimed to highlight the unique, diverse qualities of Mexican cuisine, Longoria also pays tribute to Mexico’s beautiful landscape and rich history, exploring how the country’s culture has “helped shape its cuisine, loved the world over.”
